Introduction

The 10th International Symposium on Paediatric Neuro-Oncology will take place at the Hilton London Metropole, London, from 9-12 June 2002

Symposium Theme

The theme of the meeting will be the present and future management of childhood brain tumours and will include sessions devoted to:

  1. The role of high dose chemotherapy
  2. The role of stereotactic 'focused' radiotherapy
  3. Improving the safety and effectiveness of neurosurgery.

Who should attend?

All health care professionals dealing with children who have tumours of the central nervous system. Neurologists, neurosurgeons, oncologists, radiation oncologist as well as nurses, psychologists and scientists will benefit from an up to date presentation of current and future strategies.

Symposium Format and Speakers

The programme will be made up of a combination of plenary lectures, free papers, breakout sessions and manned poster sessions.

Plenary lectures will be given by invited international experts Abstracts are invited for oral presentation by course registrants. It is envisaged that plenary lectures will precede free papers.This is an international symposium and contributions are warmly welcomed from all parts of the world, but abstracts must be submitted in English.

Poster Presentations

Submission of abstracts are invited for poster presentation. Posters will be on display for 1 day during the symposium and authors will be able to attend their posters during breaks. Posters must be submitted in English.

Please note that the deadline for submission of abstracts is 31 January 2002.

Receipt of abstracts will be acknowledged. Abstracts will only be considered if the presenter has registered for the meeting. It is intended that authors of abstracts selected for poster and oral presentation will be notified by the 28th February 2002 Posters will only be presented when the author has registered.

Social Programme

The social programme will include a Welcome Reception at the Hilton London Metropole and a superb Gala Dinner at the 16th Century Middle Temple in the heart of London’s historic legal district.

The symposium will be held in the Hilton London Metropole, a 4 star hotel, and the perfect venue for this type of conference.The hotel is just 20 minutes from Heathrow Airport by the new Heathrow Express rail service and only 10 minutes walk from Oxford Street. The hotel has two bars and great restaurants including Aspects, London’s highest rooftop restaurant. All this together with the excellent leisure facilities makes this the ideal venue.
